Berkeley Clinical Scientist Development Program
The Berkeley Clinical Scientist Development Program (BCSDP) is currently accepting applications from experienced clinicians (MD, OD, DMV, DDS, or equivalent degree) who wish to obtain the skills needed to pursue a career in translational patient-based eye and vision research. The program will provide trainees with the necessary technical knowledge and training, research experience, and scientific writing skills to establish a successful and productive research career.
The program, which is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), offers the rich resources of world-renowned departments and research units on the University of California Berkeley and San Francisco campuses. It also features a distinguished group of nationally recognized basic and clinical science faculty mentors from Vision Science, Optometry, Ophthalmology, Epidemiology, Infectious Disease, Public Health Biology, Biostatistics, Neuroscience, Chemistry, Bioengineering, and Molecular & Cell Biology. Research areas include Ocular Development & Disease; Strabismus, Amblyopia, and Visual Processing & Disorders; and Low Vision & Blindness Rehabilitation.
